Unlike most channels on YouTube, my channel Jason Polak Photography is moderated.
That means I see pretty much all comments before they are public and I can choose to approve them or delete them. The reason why I do this is because some some comments are inflammatory, not nice, nor just plain ill-conceived.
Chances are if you’re polite, your comment will be approved. But here are some reasons why your comment might have been deleted:
- Your comment was rude, e.g. “this video sucks”. Immediate deletion.
- Your insinuates or states that I’m a shill. If I collaborate with a company, I only do so when I am free to say whatever I want.
- Your comment is just bashing without constructive criticism. Especially, but not restricted to darktable. E.g. “darktable is a mess”. Constructive criticism is welcome, if it’s done in a civilized manner.
- Your comment was not intelligently written or had some sort of embedded subtle insult. E.g. “AI is just a tool man, it’s how we use it that’s the problem.”. Here’s another: “shooting in Raw is not really important, learn how to use JPEGs”.
- Your comment promotes AI software. It’s okay to debate AI, but if it’s a promotion of AI (including AI noise reduction), then it will be deleted. Not surprising as I hate AI.
The bottom line: be polite and don’t advocate using AI. The vast majority of commenters do that automatically, probably because they were raised properly or have some sense of decency. But if you’ve ever written a comment that falls under the above rubric, you’ve wasted your time because I throw them straight in the trash, with some glee I might add.
