Gear Reviews

Acknowledgements

First, thank you to the following companies that have worked with me in loaning or sending me gear. As a content creator, I couldn’t afford all the gear that I put on my channel or on this website, and these companies have helped me reach new photographic possibilities with the gear I’ve been sent (click on the logos to get to the company’s website):

Video Reviews

I sometimes make video reviews on YouTube. All of them are my own opinion and when I like or dislike a product, I say it! So check some of them out:

Viltrox 85mm f/1.4 PRO Review

Thank you to Viltrox for sending me this lens!

Nikon 50mm f/1.4 Z

I bought this lens myself and here’s my review:

Nikon NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S Review

New! Check out this review of my main birding lens:

There are LOTS of sample photos in this review so be sure to watch the view. But the long and short of it (haha) is:

  1. Pretty much perfect optically for a lens of this size
  2. PF bokeh rarely shows up, but it can with water bokeh
  3. The only real downside is the 4m minimum focus distance
  4. One could say that f/6.3 is a bit of a downside but then it’d be heavier, right?

Calibrite Colorchecker Passport Photo 2

It’s not the most shocking of products, but very useful for getting colors right:

Peak Design Outdoor 45L Backpack

For the longest time, I used an Osprey Farpoint 40 for my camera backpack, even though it’s not a camera bag! But then I replaced it with the Peak Design Outdoor 45L. Check out my video review:

Consider buying it at B&H if you think it could be a good backpack for you!

Peak Design Traven Tripod

This is my main tripod, which is a pretty awesome and sturdy tripod even though it’s a smaller, travel tripod:

If you’re interested in this tripod, consider buying it at B&H:

Tokina 400mm Mirror

I was also sent this Tokina 400mm mirror lens. Check out my review:

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed by this lens. Not too bad for artistic effects, but quite weak compared to the Tamron 55BB 500mm mirror lens.
